Walking can be a great first step on your path to wellness and weight management. As you know, about 60% of Americans are overweight or obese. Obesity has been linked to and is often a cause of cancer, heart disease and diabetes to name a few. So, let's get you moving. Exercise has so many benefits to your health I can't even count them all, so let's just take the Nike slogan and apply it and "Just Do It".
During the initial phases of my weight loss program I have patients walk for 30 minutes per day. The best time of day to exercise is first thing in the morning. Usually, it will make you feel better.
Most people, I find, need more vigorous exercise than walking, so I recommend gradually increasing the intensity of your exercise.
